Viajar al extranjero ha demostrado ser una herramienta de crecimiento personal indispensable. Año tras año, los viajes internacionales han convertido en una parte integral de la educación de nuestros hijos, proporcionándoles no solo una educación lingüística, sino también una educación cultural y emocional.
Durante este año escolar, los estudiantes de sexto de La Devesa School Carlet y Elche tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de una semana de inmersión cultural en Inglaterra. En la hermosa y natural escuela de Mount Hall School, ubicada a unos 20 minutos de Newcastle, los niños estuvieron ocupados y felices participando en una amplia variedad de actividades y espacios educativos.
Durante toda la semana, los estudiantes asistieron a clases junto a sus tutores ingleses, aprendiendo drama, inglés, arte, ciencias, música y participando en actividades deportivas como rugby, tenis, natación y fútbol, entre otros. Nuestros estudiantes regresan a casa con una gran cantidad de nuevas ideas y han aprovechado al máximo estas clases.
Como parte de esta inmersión cultural, hemos aprendido mucho sobre la cultura inglesa, incluyendo cómo se comportan durante las comidas, sus rutinas antes de ir a dormir, los horarios de la merienda y la cena, y su dieta, que inicialmente puede resultar sorprendente, pero nuestros estudiantes de Devesa han sabido adaptarse perfectamente.
Además de las actividades programadas, también realizamos diferentes excursiones, como visitar el pueblo de Hexham, donde exploramos la prisión más antigua del país, una hermosa abadía con una exposición que incluía una enorme luna colgando del techo, y dejamos una estrella pintada que se exhibirá en la abadía durante las navidades. También visitamos Newcastle, una hermosa ciudad llena de colinas y mercadillos, donde nuestros estudiantes probaron comida inglesa, hicieron compras demostrando su habilidad con el idioma, y visitaron el estadio de fútbol de la ciudad. Por último, visitamos el pueblo de Beamish, ambientado en el siglo XIX, donde pudimos experimentar cómo era la vida en ese entonces, visitar casas, una iglesia, una escuela, aprender sobre la agricultura y viajar en un autobús de dos pisos o un tranvía, entre otras cosas.
En resumen, este viaje ha sido mucho más que una experiencia lingüística. Nuestros estudiantes han tenido la oportunidad de poner en práctica sus conocimientos de inglés, pero también han adquirido un gran número de experiencias valiosas y han conocido realidades diferentes, sacando lo mejor de cada experiencia. Abrir sus mentes a un nuevo mundo y guardar este recuerdo único y especial los motivará a seguir creciendo y viviendo nuevas experiencias. Viajar siempre es una excelente idea, y nuestros estudiantes de Devesa Carlet y Elche han sido afortunados de tener esta oportunidad.

Traveling abroad has proven to be an essential tool for personal growth. Year after year, international trips have become an integral part of our children’s education, providing them not only with language education, but also cultural and emotional education.
During this school year, the sixth-grade students from La Devesa School in Carlet and Elche had the opportunity to enjoy a week of cultural immersion in England. At the beautiful and natural Mount Hall School, located about 20 minutes away from Newcastle, the children were busy and happy participating in a wide variety of educational activities and spaces.
Throughout the week, the students attended classes with their English tutors, learning drama, English, art, science, music, and participating in sports activities such as rugby, tennis, swimming, and soccer, among others. Our students return home with a wealth of new ideas and have made the most of these classes.
As part of this cultural immersion, we have learned a lot about English culture, including how they behave during meals, their bedtime routines, snack and dinner schedules, and their diet, which may initially be surprising, but our Devesa students have adapted perfectly.
In addition to the scheduled activities, we also took different excursions, such as visiting the town of Hexham, where we explored the country’s oldest prison, a beautiful abbey with an exhibition that included a huge hanging moon, and we left a painted star that will be displayed in the abbey during Christmas. We also visited Newcastle, a beautiful city full of hills and markets, where our students tasted English food, went shopping demonstrating their language skills, and visited the city’s football stadium. Finally, we visited the village of Beamish, set in the 19th century, where we could experience what life was like back then, visit houses, a church, a school, learn about agriculture, and travel on a double-decker bus or tram, among other things.
In summary, this trip has been much more than a language experience. Our students have had the opportunity to put their English knowledge into practice, but they have also acquired a large number of valuable experiences and have encountered different realities, making the most of each experience. Opening their minds to a new world and holding onto this unique and special memory will motivate them to continue growing and living new experiences. Traveling is always a great idea, and our students from Devesa Carlet and Elche have been lucky to have this opportunity.
